On the 24^th of July SIF played host to an international delegation led by Dan Sequerra- chair of the board of the Cultural Industries Quarter Agency.

The URBACT delegation from Portugal, Italy, Spain and Rumania were SIF’s guests for half a day. The delegation was visiting Sheffield to pick up practical tips on establishing CIQ’s of their own as our area is considered one of the most successful sectors in Europe. 

They came to get insight into practice and experience from active practitioners and Sheffield Independent Film was a key factor in their visit.

Events included an overview of the 25 year old company –and a perspective on its formation and the establishing of the building we now occupy. This was followed by a very English lunch sourced from local suppliers and a screening of a series of films produced in house.

The lead partner, Obidos Council (Portugal) and their consultant INTELI say their expectations of the visit were exceeded due to ‘the quality of what they have seen on the ground!’ So we hope our conversations with our guests continue because its always good to have people going away smiling from ‘ao mundo louco dos filmakers!’
